There’s so much for children to do at Forbush Memorial Library. We have an incredible book collection, CD’s, an extensive audio-book collection, magazines, and parenting books.

Our library staff is always willing to help you find the library materials you would like to borrow for your child.

Story hours are another great way to for your children to discover books and authors they enjoy. Detailed information about our current story hours can be found on our home page.

Play Area

Our play area includes puzzles, coloring pages, and imaginative play centers for children and their parents and caregivers to enjoy together.

Distinguishing between toys that go in the “kitchen” or the “garage shelves” involves sorting, a skill that will help the child become school ready.  As children move to other toys, they need to first put away the ones they have used, recognizing the appropriate place to put them.  Signs assist parents and caregivers in helping their children with these skills.

Please note that parents and caregivers are responsible for insuring the toys chosen for their children are age appropriate and that all toys played with, no matter how briefly, are put away. We also ask that no child with a contagious condition, even a cold, play with the toys in this busy, publicly used, play area.

Story hours are a great way to help your child get excited about books and reading. Some storytimes include a craft or a snack. Crafts are generally designed for children age 3 and older.  Color pages may be provided for younger children. It is up to the parent/caregiver to determine the appropriateness of the craft.

Discovering the night sky and planets with a child can be an extremely exciting and educational experience!  The Children’s Room has many books and guides to assist you in your exploration.  Your child’s imagination might also be sparked to explore storybooks featuring out-of-this-world characters!
