RESERVING A BOOK, VIDEO OR OTHER ITEM
If we do not have the item(s) you are looking for, chances are we can get the item(s) from another library. The process is simple, free, and relatively fast with most items arriving through the Interlibrary Loan process within two to seven days.
We would be happy to place a hold for you. Once the item arrives, you will receive a notice that the item is available for pick-up based on your preference. Notifications can be sent by email, phone, text, or all three.
When you come to the library the item(s) will be waiting for you at the main circulation desk. Items are held for seven days. If you do not come in during that time period, the item will be returned to the owning library.
Items borrowed from other libraries usually have the same lending period, but not always. Most Interlibrary Loan items can be renewed. If you have any questions about the time you have to borrow the book our staff will be happy to help you. Fines for late items are assessed based on the owning library’s policies.
You can return the item(s) to us, or to any CW/MARS library.
TO PLACE A REQUEST FOR AN ITEM YOURSELF
You can place holds from home or a public computer. Go to the “Online Catalog” to look for your item by keyword, title or author and make sure to choose “All Central MA libraries.” When you find what you are looking for, click on the “Place Hold” button on the right.
You will be prompted to type in your library card number and the pin you have either chosen or which has been assigned to you. You can then place the hold by hitting the “Submit” button. A confirmation that the hold was successfully placed will appear.
