WHY do we run Summer Reading?
Reading over the summer has all kinds of benefits. Numerous studies show that it helps prevent the “summer slide” (achievement loss) each school year. It also encourages kids to read for pleasure, practice independence by choosing their own books, and improve their reading skills at their own pace.
