2026 Summer Reading Program for Kids
Plant a Seed, Read!
Our Summer Reading Program is just around the corner! We are planning for a great summer of reading, programs, prizes, and fun! Join us for our kick-off event on Saturday, June 13th!
You can sign up and get started right here, or stop by the Children's Room any time (beginning June 13).
Hey teens: choose which program you want to participate in. You can do this program OR the Adult Summer Reading program! See the Teen Summer Reading page for details.
Reading Incentives for 2026: Plant a Seed, Read! and Rubber Ducky Club
Plant a Seed, Read! (recommended ages 3-18)
This summer, start off Summer Reading by picking up a tracker at the Children's Room desk (two options to choose from - same amount of reading with slightly different prize options). Read towards prizes on the log, PLUS your reading time earns stickers for the mystery mosaic in the Children’s Room! But there’s competition: the adults have their own mosaic, and they’re trying to complete it first. Can you help out-read the adults and win Summer Reading?
Filled your tracker? Bring it back to the Children’s Room for a new one!
Start with the Yellow Reading Log OR the Blue Reading Log.
Rubber Ducky Club (recommended ages 0-3)
Our littlest “readers” are invited to join the Rubber Ducky Club. Read, sing, and play with your little one to earn rubber duckies and free books!
In case you need another reason to participate...
Summer Reading has all kinds of great benefits. Kids are incentivized to read for fun, explore new genres, and keep up their literacy skills even while school is out. For babies and pre-readers, it is essential that caregivers start reading aloud early and often to establish a strong foundation for their child's future literacy. Check out the American Library Association's page on Summer Reading Benefits for more information.
